Digital Media

In this lesson, 8th grade students learned how to use Canva in preparation for a high school media course. They created posters following the prompt "If you could tell the world one thing, what would it be?" They collected images, prepared and organized files, chose fonts and color schemes, and used a variety of tools to visually communicate their message. This process introduced them to the new medium of digital art in the context of social emotional learning- getting to share what they want to say.

Assessment

After completing their projects, students organize their work in a digital portfolio. They shoot or download a high quality image, provide information about the piece including materials and the date completed, and write a brief artist's statement reflecting on their process and the ideas behind their work.
